Storage Tips and Tricks
To make sure your boat, RV or car is in tip-top shape and ready to use the next time, follow these simple resource tips before closing up the garage!
- Perform a Fluid Dump and Interior Cleaning
If you have an RV, your prep starts while you are still out on the road. Make sure to do a fluid dump at the last place you camp. Whatever you are driving, make sure that you remove anything perishable or that could attract pests: food items, drinks, etc. - Perform an Exterior Cleaning
Next, give your vehicle or boat a good cleaning. At Titan Storage, we have a wash facility just for that. Make sure to remove any cleaning supplies as those don’t store well. - Use a Battery Tender
It’s always recommended that you connect your batteries to a tender aka trickle charger. This prolongs its life and makes sure it’s ready to start the next time you use it. However, if you don’t plan on using a tender, just remove the battery and take it with you. - Complete All Preventative Maintenance
Some preventative maintenance can go a long way. Make sure you check your tires. They should be at the proper cold pressure. You should service locks with spray lubricant to keep them moving easily the next time you need to use them. Before you store for a long period, check, and refresh all those important fluids. Never store a boat with anything less than a full tank. - Open Up Ports and Windows
Before you leave, make sure you have retracted all slide outs. To improve ventilation, make sure to leave the rooftop vents open. All floorboards should be up; doors ajar; ports and skylights open; hatches partly open; and drawers and lockers open. - Turn Off Your Appliances
Propane cylinders must be shut off and cover the regulators. Turn off your refrigerator and leave the door partially open. Make sure that any 12 and 110 volt power sources are switched off, along with your LP gas. - Use Non-Wood Chocks
Last, put a rubber or some other synthetic material chock behind each wheel. Don’t use wood since it can be eaten by pests. - Keep Your Papers Sorted
Finally, some administrative items: take pictures and record the VIN and keep them for insurance purposes. Check the registration and renew it in the winter months so you’re ready to go in the spring.
By following these tips, you’ll be ready for whatever fun you can imagine in your boat, RV, or car!
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
WHAT TYPE OF DOCUMENTATION DO I NEED TO PROVIDE IN ORDER TO RENT A SPACE?
We request that you provide a valid form of Government Issued Identification after your reservation is completed. We also reserve the right to request proof of Insurance, Current Registration, and/or a copy of the Title.
DO I NEED TO SIGN A LONG-TERM LEASE?
No, our lease agreement is based on a monthly cycle that automatically renews unless notified otherwise. This month-to- month basis allows customers to lease a unit for an amount of time sufficient to satisfy their needs without excess expenses.
ARE DISCOUNT PLANS OFFERED?
We do offer discounts for Military, First Responders, and Teachers as well as discounts for longer term leases. We also have a referral reward program for our current customers. Please contact our management team for more information about current offers.
HOW DO I MAKE A PAYMENT?
Autopay is the simplest method for payments, and it can be set up on our website by clicking the Pay Bill button at the top of the page. You can also make payments through our convenient mobile app or by calling the facility during regular business hours.
WHAT FORMS OF PAYMENT DO YOU ACCEPT?
We accept all major credit cards to include VISA, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover. We also accept electronic checks from a checking account through Automated Clearing House, better known as ACH.
WHAT ARE THE RATES?
Our rates vary depending on the size of the unit and the included features. We do however make all of our prices transparent by listing them directly on our website. Simply select your location on the homepage to find the list of unit types at that facility. Each unit will display availability, pricing, and current discounts if applicable.
WHEN CAN I MOVE IN?
In an effort to make the rental process more convenient we have implemented a contact free reservation and rental system here on our website. That means that if there is an available unit, that meets your specific needs, you can rent and sign your lease at any time. Once the lease is signed electronically you will receive an email with your access code and can move in anytime, day or night.
DO I NEED TO GIVE A NOTICE BEFORE I MOVE OUT?
All lease agreements are for a month-to-month basis; however, the agreement automatically renews at the end of each cycle. As such, we do require a 15-day notice before you plan to move out. This notice can be submitted directly on our custom mobile app or by contacting management directly by email or phone.
DO YOU OFFER RV MAINTENANCE, CLEANING OR OTHER SERVICES?
We are working to create relationships with third party services that meet our strict standards. We are happy to refer you to one of our trusted service providers and many of the services can take place here at the facility. However, we do not offer these services directly. While we make every effort to find reliable sources, we cannot claim to be the authority, so we ask that you compare services to ensure you are getting the best service at the best rate.
DOES THERE HAVE TO BE SOMEONE IN THE OFFICE TO LET ME THROUGH THE SECURITY GATES?
Our facilities are designed to be fully automated by using the best technology available. Current tenants are granted 24-hour access to our facilities by using their unique access code. Prospective tenants, on the other hand, will need to contact management in order to gain access to the facility. We ask that you schedule a time with management to receive a tour of our facilities where they can answer any questions you have.
WHAT TYPES OF VEHICLES CAN BE STORED?
We do not discriminate to the type of vehicles being stored in our units so long as they do not go against our policies or standards. Any vehicle stored in our facilities needs to be insured and registration kept current. Boats must be on a trailer and either be registered with the coast guard or have the registration numbers visible. RVs need to be in good working order and not have leaks of any kind. Classic Cars, motorcycles, and other collectable vehicles are to be insured and efforts should be taken to prevent fluid leaks.
CAN I WORK ON MY VEHICLE INSIDE OF THE UNIT?
Regular maintenance is typically allowed as long as it does not disrupt other tenants, create a mess, or go against our policies. Minor repairs that do not require the use of power tools and do not create dust, sparks, heat, odors, or loud noises may also be permitted with permission. Major repairs, overhauls, and restorations are not allowed on the premises. Special permissions may be granted but the decision made is at the managers discretion and may be revoked at any time with or without notice.
DO I NEED INSURANCE?
Insurance is the tenant’s responsibility whether for a vehicle or for personal property stored inside of our facility. Titan Storage does not insure the customer’s vehicle or other property, nor do we currently offer insurance from third party insurance providers. Do be aware that an insurance policy is required for stored vehicles/vessels. Property insurance for personal items is the owner’s responsibility but may be partially covered by a homeowner’s or renter’s policy.
HOW CAN I REPORT A PROBLEM WITH MY UNIT?
Our custom mobile app has an integrated feature that allows you to create a report and even attach a photo. The report is sent directly to management, who will follow up with you as quickly as possible. If there is an emergency situation, please do not hesitate to dial 911. If the emergency is not life threatening, please call us as soon as possible so that we can respond quickly and resolve the issue.
CAN I USE A STORAGE UNIT FOR MY BUSINESS?
We do allow businesses to lease units with a few prominent stipulations. No retail transactions can be conducted on the premises without management approval. Customers are not allowed on the premises without management approval and escorted by the tenant. There is no manufacturing, construction, or manned office use to be conducted in our facilities. Any use that creates an unsafe or disruptive environment is grounds for termination of the lease and prompt eviction. Business storage types can be complicated so we ask that you contact management first to ensure compliance.
DO YOU CONDUCT AUCTIONS LIKE OTHER FACILITIES?
Yes and No! The answer to this question is complicated because it depends on what is being stored inside of the unit and the applicable state laws governing storage auctions. Our lease agreement covers this topic more thoroughly but suffice it to say that we do reserve the right to dispose of or sell property to recoup associated expenses, damages, and arrears of rent and charges.
Resources not have the answer you were looking for?
Our storage policies are openly listed on our resource page. When you become a tenant each of our policies will be more thoroughly explained in the lease agreement. If you have a question about our policies, please do not hesitate to contact management anytime.
